Update from Village Management

As the colder weather has settled in all around us it has been enjoyable to witness the hive of activity that Champion Lakes abounds itself with. Events and social gatherings have not slowed with the approach of the wintery weather and it is with a huge smile that we welcome our newest residents to the Villag, Rosalie and Tom who moved from Thornlie after 23 years and now call Lot 25 home with their gorgeous dog “Lady”. We are also very pleased to welcome David and Sheila.

Social Scoop

A very enjoyable and scrumptious spread was enjoyed at our recent “Mothers Day High Tea” in the Lodge. A huge thank you must be expressed to the many talented residents who brought the spread together for all to enjoy with their very talented baking abilities.

Workshop workings

Fred has recently purchased a new bandsaw on behalf of the workshop/ hobby group and is encouraging any residents to join him any weekday mornings but particularly every Wednesday between 10:30 – 11:30 am should you be interested in partaking in any type of workshop activities or to simply admire and enjoy the recent creations by the group.

Recipe of the month: Lemon myrtle dampers

  • 2 cups self-raising flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
  • 50g butter, chilled, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried lemon myrtle (see note)
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • Extra milk, for brushing
  • Extra plain flour, for dusting
  • Softened butter, to serve

METHOD

  • Preheat oven to 200C/180C fan-forced.
  • Lightly grease a baking tray. Sift flour and salt into a large bowl. Add butter. Using fingertips, rub the butter into the flour mixture until the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in lemon myrtle. Season with pepper. Make a well in the centre of the flour mixture. Add milk. Stir to form a soft, sticky dough.
  • Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead lightly for 1 minute or until just smooth. Shape dough into 6 balls.
  • Place on prepared tray. Cut shallow slits across the top of each ball. Brush with a little extra milk. Dust with a little extra flour.
  • Bake for 15 minutes or until rolls sounds hollow when tapped on top. Serve warm or at room temperature with butter

Volunteer call out – newsletter support person needed

Village Management is keen to hear from a resident who has a skillset or interests in assisting us to prepare the monthly newsletter. The position would work closely with management to provide content and prepare the final version for distribution each month. If you are interested in discussing this role further we would encourage you to contact Fiona in the on-site office to put your hand up and be a part of our community champion chatter production.

Save the Date – 16th June 2021

Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea planning has come together fabulously and a special thanks to the Resident Committee for teaming up with village management to bring this event together.

Mark Wednesday 16th June in your calendar and be sure to invite your friends and family to a day not to be missed as we all get behind a very worthwhile charity to raise much-needed funds. All info is attached for your reference. We look forward to you supporting and enjoying this event with your neighbours and friends and joining us at Champion Lakes for a fabulous day!!!

Display Home & Construction Update

We are very proud of the product we continue to promote to prospective purchasers so we thought we would take some happy snaps of the internals within the “Gardenia” floor plan currently available for viewing.

Best Wishes for the winter months ahead Keith, Jane, Leah, Fiona & Families.

April Newsletter – 2021

April 2021

Welcome to our April news and updates!

We began Autumn with Saint Patricks Day celebrations. As usual, Jim and Judy entertained us with their creative costumes and we enjoyed green food and drinks to fit the theme.

We celebrated Easter with a High Tea which was a bright and extravagant occasion with food galore. We welcomed many of our future residents to join in the fun with Jacky taking out the win for her amazing easter bonnet. Kay and Judy also had an impressive display, making the hat parade a lively event!

Thanks to the baking talents of our residents, the array of delicious delicacies was most enjoyable. We all appreciated the hard work that went into making the event so special.

Loving the ugg boots with bunny ears plus a very handy chocolate bucket hat.

Our Stage two construction is well underway with new homes being started every week! Stay tuned for sneak peek photos next month with some of the amazing ideas our residents have come up with to make their homes unique, we think they look great!

The process of selling the family home and moving into a village can sometimes be daunting, often it’s hard to know where to start so we asked our residents to share some friendly advice and tips:

We decided it was time to move due to our family home being too big and large gardens required continual maintenance which was becoming difficult to keep up.’

‘We chose Champion Lakes Lifestyle Village because of the friendly atmosphere, and preferred a family business rather than a large corporate body. We liked the trees and landscaped garden areas, plus being pet friendly. The feeling of safety and security was important to us and the exit strategy was good and reasonable.’

‘Since moving into the village we have had plenty of company when wanting to socialise. It’s nice not feeling lonely with friendly people around. There is always help when needed and we are more relaxed with less housework and gardens to manage.’

‘One tip we would pass onto any future residents would be to start getting rid of unnecessary stuff, the sooner the better!

Many of our residents enjoy a practical joke now and then, this week Chris shared her morning coffee with a friendly spider. The scream followed by laughter was heard across the village!

Also this month I celebrated the big 40! Thank you to my Champion Lakes family for spoiling me with baked goodies and a delicious dinner, I certainly felt very lucky to be part of such a caring community.

Best Wishes Keith, Jane, Leah and Family

February Newsletter – 2021

February 2021

Welcome to our village news and updates as we kick start the year with an Australia Day BBQ celebration, plus lots of new homes under construction.

Thanks to the 2nd Chance Op Shops generous donation, our Hobby Workshop now has a new pedestal drill and thickness planer.

Construction on Stage 2 is well underway with 39 new lots now available. Our development has a premium security and communications system that allows all Champion Lakes residents to have exclusive NBN access with Think Data. Think Data provides us with an internal network that is not only economical for residents but provides reliable local support.

One of the many benefits of living in a village community is the convenience of communal on-site services and facilities. Our brand new “Iris” display home is now completed and open for viewing every day! Please pop in any time for a cuppa and a chat.

Our newest resident to join the Champion Lakes family is Barbara and her dog Pepper. Barb has patiently been waiting 12 months to sell her house in Martin and has finally moved into her brand new village home. We think her choice of colours and finishes look fantastic! Well done Barb

During covid restrictions, the importance of community is valued more than ever. May we all stay safe and look out for each other.

Best Wishes Keith, Jane, Leah and the Champion Lakes Team.

Our New Year’s Eve cocktail party was a night filled with delicious drinks, laughter, and singing! The helium balloons didn’t last till midnight but the Karaoke did! A great way to bring in the new 2021 year!

Our Social Committee has done a wonderful job of organising events for everyone to enjoy. Thank you for all that you do, we really appreciate it.

November 2020

Our Open Day was a great success with sunshine, music and dancing! The sausage sizzle , coffee and donuts flowed throughout the day thanks to our amazing helpful residents who went above and beyond to make the day enjoyable for over 100 new visitors to the village.

We can’t thank our wonderful residents enough for their enthusiasm and commitment to growing our village family. We are so grateful to be part of such a thoughtful community who together make the village so special.

Earlier this month the social club arranged a Melbourne Cup event with a delicious lunch made by some of our talented residents. A great time was had by all as we watched the winning horses on the big screen picture theatre.

Our stall at the “Have a go” day was a great chance to meet lots of new people including a lovely lady in the next door stall from a local agency called CPE Group.

Our Champion Lake homes are built under the ‘Adaptable Housing Guidelines’ to ensure residents can age in place with the assistance of agencies such as CPE who provide quality, affordable in home care.

Big Kev is enjoying his special corner thanks to our landscaping team Ben, Jarron, Caleb, Kylie and Jayne. Our gardens are looking beautiful in Autumn bloom plus our Village Veggie Garden is now completed ready for planting.

As well as planting veggies , our residents have been busy making these cute doll beds for childrens’ charity groups. Well done Fred and Denise they look great.

September/October 2020

Welcome to our spring news and updates with our most exciting development now under construction! The heated indoor pool is finally underway and we can’t wait to be swimming by summer! Our pool is being built by the award winning Imperial Pools who have so far done an amazing job.

During school holidays I was fortunate enough to spend time with my family up north enjoying the sunshine in Monkey Mia, Exmouth and Coral Bay. We met up with some Champion Lakes residents who have a lovely holiday home in Exmouth. Thank you, John and Yvonne for inviting us to dinner, it was great to meet your beautiful grandkids and catch up with friends.

Champion Lakes location is surrounded by many local attractions including the Araluen Botanic Gardens and the Roleystone Country Club where some of our residents will be attending a Halloween dinner and quiz night this month. Hopefully we win best costume on the night!

Margarita will be moving into the ‘Daffodil’ Display Home next month with the help of her daughter. Margaritas house sold in just under a month with Spring definitely looking positive for purchasing and buying homes.  Realestate.com.au has reported an increase in WA sales which is encouraging, so if you’re thinking about making the move, maybe now is the time.

With Seniors Week fast approaching, our village will be attending the ‘Have a Go’ Day in November. This free event is a great opportunity to learn and participate in a number of activities. We definitely recommend checking it out and if you have time , please come say hi at our stall on the day.

Our brand new display homes are now completed and open for viewing. Please join us on Sunday the 15th of November for a day of entertainment with talented singer Chris from Beatles to Buble. Enjoy a free sausage sizzle, barista  coffee and hot freshly made donuts. A great opportunity to meet some of our friendly residents and experience the village atmosphere.

We look forward to hopefully seeing you on the Open Day.

Best Wishes Keith, Jane, Leah and Family.
