FUNNIES OF THE MONTH
WELCOME TO THE CHAMPION COMMUNITY
Welcome to Laurie and Ralph, who have taken up residence at Lot 11 or 2 Scenery Court.
They have been with us for a couple of weeks and are already beginning to join in and enjoy some of the activities that the village has on offer.
They were both born and bred in Fremantle, have 2 children, a girl aged 45 and a boy aged 39. They have 3 grandchildren aged from 1 to 13 years.
They have leisurely enjoyed a few years travelling around Australia, having sold up in WA a little whilst back and enjoying Queensland and the Victorian/NSW border where their daughter lives.
Upon their return to Perth 3 ½ years ago when their son was married, they bought a home in Hilbert where they lived before moving into the village.
Ralph was a truck driver mainly in fresh produce around the Perth area, having his own truck for a while. In Queensland, he worked on the tracks of the small trains which serviced the Bundaberg sugar industry.
Laurie was a carer in aged care and worked in a nursing home as well as working in community care while in Queensland and Victoria.
Laurie has had many hobbies and is currently doing some diamond art and is looking forward to participating in new activities available in the Village. Ralph has played golf previously and may do so in the future. He is also interested in bowls and darts and will no doubt pursue these here.
Welcome to Myrna Turner, who has moved into Lot 51 or 31 Lifestyle Lane.
She is accompanied by her Staffy/Ridgeback cross called Matilda. As Myrna says when talking about her, she is an old girl of 12 years who enjoys sleeping a lot!!!
Myrna says she is gradually settling in, while still unpacking boxes and finding things!! I think we can all relate to that!
Originally Myrna was a resident in Roleystone being there for 48 years and owned and ran the Kelmscott Drapery for many years. In the 1990s they decided to have a sea change and a change of lifestyle and went to Dongara where they had a large property of 160acres, half of which was beachfront. After 10 years they moved to Bindoon on a 5 acre property with many native trees and they loved being back in the country rather than beach scenery.
Myrna has 4 children, a daughter in Victoria and sons in areas South of the river. She says that her 3 sons and daughter-in -laws are all very supportive of her and she has 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandies in her family. She feels very fortunate she says as all her grandchildren are happily married.
After the death of her husband 13 months ago she lived with her son in Roleystone while she looked for a property and is delighted with her new home in the village.
She is interested in the craft group and hopes to join in the future when she is settled. She also loves gardening and is waiting for her many pot plants to come here, so she can get herself set up with them.
THE ‘SCENE’ AROUND AT CHAMPIONS LAKE
April was another month of various resident outings and activities undertaken at the village.
Hobby Shed Activity
Marty, Ron and Fred recently attended the local Swap Meet with some proud Hobby Shed made items on display and available for sale.
ANZAC Service at Champion Lakes
Many residents came and partook in a village style dawn service to commemorate our fallen heroes on the morning of the 25th April 2022.
That spectacular sunrise was simply breathtaking, as was the proceeding bacon and egg breakfast held on the club grounds.
Tuesday Morning Jam Sessions
Our Clubhouse facilities become a hive of activity every Tuesday from 10am as residents enjoy the 10-man band that play many of the favourites of all time for all to enjoy over a coffee and chat with their neighbours.
Lunching at Last Drop
A group of our lovely resident community headed off to Midland for a very pleasant lunch at the Last Drop via the village bus.
CONSTRUCTION / SALES UPDATE
Our final road in Stage 2 is currently under construction with a completion goal of the end of June 2022.
This row of homes will overlook a beautiful stretch of White Gum trees which run along the boundary of the village estate.
14 new lots are now open for reservation with just a $100 deposit to secure your new home, six lots have already been snapped up so please be quick!
Lots 79, 80, 81,82, 86, 87, 88, 89, 91 and 92 cater for our Rose and Poppy designs which currently range from $429,000 – $439,000.
Lots 83, 84, 85, and 90 cater for our Iris and Gardenia designs which currently range from $359,000 – $379,000.

Gosnells Bowling Club Open Day – Sunday May 8th, 2022.
What do you really know about Lawn Bowls? Yes, Sir Francis Drake played when Elizabeth First was on the throne and yes, it is a popular game for retirees, but let me tell you it’s more than that!
Modern games are faster, fun, and definitely for all ages.
If you are interested in finding out more, then come to The Gosnells Bowling Club on Sunday the 8th May 2022, anytime from 2.00pm to 5.00pm.
FREE games with all equipment provided, FREE Sausage Sizzle, FREE special kids’ games with smaller bowls, FREE to everyone.

SAFETY REMINDERS
- On April 1st 2022, we remind residents to change smoke alarm batteries. If you are having difficulty doing so, please see management for assistance.
- Upon exiting the Village onto Bay Court, please remember to look left. Trucks transporting building materials have been reminded to slow down, however we have had a number of close calls with resident vehicles pulling out in front of trucks without looking. Verge trees will be regularly cut back to ensure vision is not obstructed. Thank you
